What is my daughter's league division age?

We assign girls to divisions based on their age on January 1.  For example, a girl turns 9 on 12/31.  She has aged out of 8U, and will be placed in the next division up.  If her birthday was instead 1/3, she could still play 8U, or upon request, play one division higher.

What does my daughter need to play?

SGSL will provide the team with uniform shirts.  Each girl is tasked with buying cleats (NO METAL CLEATS ALLOWED), a glove, a helmet, and ideally, her own bat (NO COMPOSITE BATS).  Defensive facemasks are required at the coach's discretion, but are always recommended.  Coaches are also allowed to choose how to complete their uniform.  So, once a team has been drafted, the coach will let you know what clothing items you'll need to purchase (pants or shorts, and type/color of socks).  Team mom's often time assist in the organizing of the uniform pieces, so it is best to wait for the teams to be drafted before purchasing any clothing for games.

I registered, now what?

Once late registration is closed, there will be a team draft approximately one week later. The head coach will contact you as soon as the teams are drafted.  Our Facebook page often posts status updates regarding team drafts and if any additional volunteers are needed.

When will my daughter practice?

Practices are scheduled at the team draft, and are subject to the head coach's requests. No practice days can be guaranteed ahead of the draft.  Teams are permitted to practice two times a week before the start of the game schedule, and will decrease to once a week and one game a week thereafter.

Where will my daughter practice?

We assign every team one field practice per week, the second may be on an auxiliary field (i.e. the football fields down below) or an alternate location arranged by the coach.  Typically, however, teams keep all activities to the fields at Gahagan Sports Complex.

When are games?

We try to schedules games on Saturdays, but that is subject to weather and community activities (like prom, graduation, etc...).  In the spring, the schedule is written with the intent to finish play before Memorial Day weekend, and in the fall, with the intent to finish play before the week of Thanksgiving.  Weather and other extenuating circumstances (like COVID) may alter those plans, but it is always our intent to wrap up regular play and playoffs before breaks.
