8 & Under Division

Spring Season

1.

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP IS DEMANDED FROM ALL MEMBERS OF THIS LEAGUE. Absolutely NO harassment will be allowed during the game play from coaches, parents or any fan attending our League games. (Reference SGSL Rule 1.)

2.

A ten foot (10’) circle will be drawn around home plate and the pitcher’s mound.

3.

An offensive pitcher-coach is free to pitch from a 35 foot rubber up to the 10 foot circle as needed, depending on the ability of the batter. Pitcher-coach must stay in the circle until the ball is released.

4.

Base distance is to be fifty-five feet (55’).

5.

A pitcher-player may take her position on either side of the pitcher-coach to see the batter and may move forward beside the pitcher-coach as he/she pitches. (The pitcher-player MUST keep one foot within the circle until the ball reaches home plate.)

6.

A batted ball MUST PASS the ten foot (10’) home plate circle to be a fair ball.

7.

The batter and all base runners MUST wear helmets. Chin straps are optional. Face guards ARE required.

8.

A ball thrown into foul territory is immediately a DEAD BALL. Runners which were advancing will be awarded the upcoming base ONLY.

9.

Once the ball is returned to the defensive pitcher or under control in the infield in the circle during the game, TIME WILL BE CALLED IMMEDIATELY.

10.

All players will bat in the same order. Tardy players will be added to the bottom of the lineup card.

11.

All players take the field on defense. A maximum of five (5) girls can be in the infield (inside the base lines).

12.

Infielders are not allowed to approach home plate any closer than the pitcher.

13.

The pitcher-coach should leave the field when the ball is hit; unintentional interference by the pitcher-coach is still a live ball. The pitcher-coach is considered part of the playing field if the ball hits the pitcher-coach.

14.

Two defensive coaches are allowed on the field, in foul territory beyond the coach’s box. (Near grass line, or in the grass).

15.

Each batter will be allowed a maximum of five (5) pitches, a no-hit constitutes an out.

16.

A team may score five (5) runs in innings 1 through 4, with a limit of eight (8) runs in the fifth (5th) inning.

17.

The infield fly rule is not in effect.

18.

T-ball bats and ASA softball bats are allowed.

19.

Courtesy runner for catcher is mandatory with two (2) outs. Courtesy runner should be the batter who made the last out.

20.

There will be a 1:00 (One Hour) time limit; an inning in progress will be completed, unless completion of that inning would not impact the outcome. For example, if the visiting team is ahead by more runs than the home team can possibly score or the home team is ahead and at bat, the game will be called when time expires. There will be a maximum of FIVE (5) innings.

21.

With 5 minutes remaining on the official time clock NO “TIMEOUTS” may be taken.

22.

If an injury occurs with less than five (5) minutes remaining, the clock will stop while the player is being given medical attention.

23.

Teams will start with nine (9) players on the lineup card. If a player is injured you may play the shorthanded rule, but NO team can start with eight (8) players. Eight (8) players or less is a forfeited game.

24.

After regulation time has expired and the score is tied, the international tiebreaker rule (I.T.B.) will be in effect for one (1) inning ONLY for this age division. If the game is still tied at the end of the one (1) I.T.B. inning then the game is completed and the score will remain tied. (ITB – The last batter from the previous inning will be placed on 2nd base.)

25.

Playoff game will be a full 5 innings or 1 hour and 15 minutes.
